Student Devices During the Summer of 2025 Form

Forms are available at the front office, at guidance, or in the library. Completed forms should be returned in NHS Library. Students will be notified at school if their form is approved by administration.

Each student in the School District of Newberry County will have the opportunity to use their school-issued device over the summer. All devices will be checked by staff before collection or distribution for summer take-home. Parents who prefer their children to use their devices over the summer must sign and return this form to their child’s homeroom or first period teacher by Friday, May 9, 2025.

Parents who do not wish for their child to use the school-issued device over the summer do not need to take any further action. Students at the high school should return their device on their final day of school or exams for the year.

Parents should still pay any outstanding debts prior to the end of the school year. All graduating seniors must return their devices after completion of final exams Students may be allowed to use their device over the summer if they have met each of the following criteria

  • Paid $25 2024-2025 Technology fee on or before May 9.

  • Have no outstanding technology-related invoices or damages - check with media specialist or bookkeeper

  • Have read and understand the 1:1 Handbook and Acceptable Use Policy located on the district website

  • Been responsible in their use of district technology

It is also important to note that even during the summer months:

  • The school-issued devices are monitored by district security and filtering and students may lose the right to keep their device over the summer. Parents should set their own parameters for device use as well.

  • Internet shut off times will remain during the summer based on student enrollment at the end of 2024-2025

  • 8 p.m. for elementary students ○ 10 p.m. for middle school students

  • Midnight for high school students

  • Students who do not complete this opt to keep form and do not return their devices will have network privileges revoked until the device is returned to the school ● Each school will determine its own day and time for students to bring their devices in for repair or questions. Please refer to your child’s school website for more information on device work order days and times.
